Goal setting

It’s good to set some goals if you’re still stuck in the same situation working in the 9-5 job.

Your goal is to quit your job and have financial freedom so you can spend more time with families, don’t have to worry about paying a lot of bills, go travelling around the world and help the poor to be successful.

That is my goal if I become successful, I want to help the poor to be successful rather than trading their time for money to achieve somebody’s goals.

I believe everyone’s got potentials to do better in life rather than being stuck in the corporate job, the corporate world to be controlled by society. The problem is people don’t pursue their dreams that can change their life, they think they can work for years until they retire, they got no future and no hope.

They rather have a normal life than having financial freedom because it’s been taught by your parents, by the teachers, the education system and the law.

We’ve been controlled by society to be slaves by going to school, listens to your teachers, been forced to do things that we don’t like and we’ve been taught to get a job.

Your parents, your teachers, society taught you this. You go to school to learn, get good grades, go to college, go to university and get a good secure job and work for years until you retire so you can enjoy life and that’s it. You’ve been taught to be slaves with no goals. The education system goals are to keep people trapped in the real world and your goal is to get out of the real world.

Set your goals today

It’s going to be difficult when you set some goals to get out of the real world, you want to get out as soon as possible but that’s not going to happen overnight and you’re rich. A lot of people will think setting goals is to get rich, don’t have to work, enjoy life and party hard. No that’s not how you set your goals by thinking you can escape and party hard.

To set goals you got to:

  1. Take actions
  2. Write down on the piece of paper
  3. Be proactive
  4. Get out of your comfort zone
  5. Save some money
  6. Start an online business
  7. Focus on your goals
  8. Don’t get distracted from party animals
  9. Believe in yourself
  10. Do something about it

Stay focus on your goals

Set your goals and focus on them. You can get distracted from your goals sometimes. The people who are not successful can distract you from focusing your goals, they want you to be like them and unsuccessful. Too much partying can lose focus on your goals because it’s a distraction, it’s okay to party and have a bit of fun but not over the top. You got to stay focus on your goals if you want to achieve them.

To stay focus on your goals:

  1. Stick to your goals
  2. Don’t get distracted
  3. Avoid party animals
  4. Get inspired by the successful entrepreneurs
  5. Plan ahead
  6. Stay proactive
  7. Read books
  8. Spend time on your own
  9. Write down on the piece of paper of your goals
  10. Keep up the work

Set goals for your plans

Plan ahead to climb up the ladder to reach your goal, don’t worry about falling off because you’re going to fall anyway. If you fall, you stand back up and climb up the ladder again to reach your goal. You got to motivate yourself to do this, make a plan that what you’re going to do for your future to success. For example, you want to go travelling around the world to explore nature and culture, that is your goal to do it. You got to keep climbing up the ladder and not fall if you fall, you keep climbing up the ladder. It’s going to be difficult for the first step but it pays off once you’ve completed the challenge. You got to focus on your goals.
I know it’s difficult to get out of bed because the bed is so comfortable that made you want to stay in bed. What makes you don’t want to get out of bed is because you had no plans of what you’re doing, you haven’t set any task for your schedule to do the things that are important to you. Try and set goals for your plans on how you going to achieve them. A lot of people when they’re having time off from work, they normally stay in bed that’s because they had no plans when you got plans, you have the motivation to get out of bed to be productive. For example, you get up in the morning to go to work, you have to get up to go to work or otherwise you get the sack for not turning up for work. It’s the same thing as when you set your goals to do something productive while you’re not working rather than lying in bed. Try and treat your morning routine like your getting up in the morning to go to work, it’s going to be hard because I struggle as well.
This is what you got to do to set your goals is to dream big, set goals and take actions. Don’t just dream about your goals, you got to take actions and do it. You got to be confident in yourself that you can do it. The more it holds you back, you’re going to be working in a job and achieve somebody’s goals.

  1. Thanks for sharing this as it’s coming right on time. My dreams are big and I’d need financial freedom in order to accomplish them. Moreso, I need as much time as possible to live my dreams. A 9 to 5 job is not an option for me because I would not have time for my dreams running the rat race. Therefore, I have set some goals that I really need to crush. I am ready to do what ever it takes to reach my goals.

  3. Thank you for this insightful article, setting goals and planning goes hand in hand. Like you rightly said, plan ahead to climb up the ladder and achieve your goals. In everything we do proper planning is very key to our success, we must engage both tools(goals setting and planning) together

  4. This is such good advice! Everyone knows they have to take action, but all too often they’ll take action for a bit before quitting. Or they just won’t take action at all. And I’m a big believer in jotting down goals on paper or on a goal-board. And above all else, believing in yourself is crucial because at the end of the day nobody is going to want to achieve your goals as much as you.

  5. Thank you for this article on goal setting. I’ve heard most of the same advice other places, but it’s good to have constant reinforcement on getting it in gear to make and achieve goals.  Sometimes the hardest thing can be the smallest thing, but getting that thing done can be the key to success.  Also having to remember that the world doesn’t work to serve people, people have to do something to make it.  Aim high…the possibilities can be endless.

  6. How that you mentioned, having a blog is what made me jump out of bed, finish my day job quickly and get home early for the past few years. Before I would have been wasting my time doing unnecessary things but the idea of turning my blog into a money-making machine is what kept me going so far. It’s not like I want to live a luxurious life. I just want to get out of the rat race and live a more meaningful life.

  7. I totally agree that goals must be set in order for us to break free from the normal working grind of our current day society. I have been doing this entrepreneurial quest for a few years and I knew shortly after I started that it was going to be difficult to reach my goals no matter how much I worked for the. I also knew this would have a negative effect on my journey so I reset my goals to smaller more doable ones. Now when I reach a goal, though it is easier to reach, it motivates me to keep going.

  8. There is so much going on in my life every day that goals help me makes sense of it all and get something done. I appreciate you list on how to stay focused on a goal particularly your advice to stay focused.  Plans alone really don’t help me much because I plans do not tell me what I have to achieve.  You are correct.  Its setting goals that allow me to move forward no matter how small the goal.

  9. Great post!  I agree and really think it was a good idea to explain how we live in a system which designs and shapes our entire life all the way to the end.  Making goals is a great motivator and a way to change that direction which was already planned for us!  Setting goals is extremely important although most people may not learn of its significance until later in life.  This could be part of the reason for many just following the design of society!  They have been trained that way. Do you think that goal setting alone is sufficient motivation for people who been systematically trained for twenty or thirty years?

  10. Hello Gordon! Thanks for this sharing this informations as it’s exactly what I lack as an entrepreneur and banker. I always find it easy to set lots of goals to achieve at a certain time but always miss it along the line, probably because I don’t write them down and follow it sequencially.

This article will go a long way to help me set a better goals this time. Thanks!

  16. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It is very present topic, as I think many people are searching for ways, how to quite 9-5 routine. Being able to set up ans then follow your goals is a good start. But not the only thing to do, as also people working in the corporate world are setting their goals. I think crucial here, is what kind of goals you are setting up. But overall I have to agree, that if you have your goals written and if you take, regularly action, you are on good way to be successful. I wish you just the best luck and success within your journey, Gordon!

  18. Your description of how we are taught to fit in this 9 to 5 society is so accurate. It is true, we are told to go to school, get good grades, go to university, get a job, get married, retire, and then enjoy our pension … Stepping out of this box takes courage, and I am doing this too. To reach my goals I need to stay on track and stay motivated. When you fall you get up and keep on going, very true.

thank you for this motivational post! I needed to read this.

  19. Goal setting is essential. It’s the only way people have to look forward to when they try to achieve. I have to see three months, six months, one year to see how far I will get with five years. I like your concept. And thank you for the reminder that goals are fundamental, especially to those who are doing businesses online.

  20. Goal setting is very important if you want to achieve ANYTHING at all in life.  Unless you’re extremely lucky to hit the lottery the first time you play on a whim, you need to have goals to get anywhere.  Even if it as simple as working in a field you love and the pay sucks, you will need goals to get that coveted wildlife park ranger spot.  Or whatever.  Thanks for the article.

  21. I appreciate your article on this very important topic. Are you familiar with the concept of SMART goals? It is a frame work upon which to set a goal. The five SMART criteria stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. There has been much written and researched about the concept of SMART goals. The framework helps you get a clear picture of what your goal is and how to attain it.

  22. This was a great article to read for me because I too believe that we have to set our goals and not be afraid to fall because we will fall but we have to learn to get up afterwards. Plus it’s so true that school, society, and our parents try to fit us into a corporate mold and keep us slaves to the system. We have to learn to follow our dreams and find the thing that gets us excited enough to jump out of bed in the morning! Thanks for sharing, this will help a lot of people.

  23. I like your article because it highlights the reality that you must set your goals early in order to see any real results in achieving them. Do you think that it is better to set small goals or big goals overall? Why is it nice to get help in achieving your goals rather than delaying doing it?

Setting a goal is one one the first move that will help break the “Chain of Slavery” because every that work for someone else is under the authority of the boss. Since I have my goals set I have been working beyond my usual target and with this Article I now know that I have to do a little more.

  25. Goal setting is an important part of my life. I found out later in life that I am unhappy and mostly depressed just because I had no goals and just lived day by day. In the long run that affected me. It made me feel useless and found no meaning and purpose in life.

Now that have changed. After I listed to a lot of motivational speakers and they state about the importance of goal setting I started to realize that this can be the key to solve my depression. I am routinely checking my goals. I have short term, mid term and long term goals. Every time I accomplish any of them, I feel better about myself everyday. Now I finally have a purpose.

I am happy to say that because of goal setting, I used to own 2 restaurants and 1 import business. Even now I am no longer involved in them, I sold them at a very handsome price. I am now moving to the online market and my goal is to have online stores. It is coming closer everyday, thanks to setting goals.
