6 habits that will make you successful

If you want to live your life with wealth, love, joy and happiness then you need to learn these 6 critical habits.

These habits are truly going to make you successful.

I want you to imagine your going on a hiking trip, it’s going to take you a long time to get there, but you’re motivated to complete the hiking trip.

You bring all your stuff for your hiking trip like:

  1. Medicine
  2. Mosquito spray
  3. Food
  4. Drinks
  5. Phone charger
  6. Raincoat
  7. Umbrella
  8. Hiking stick
Your planning to go hiking and you ask your family and friends where to go to.
They tell you to go to the blue mountain. You went on a hiking trip to the blue mountain. It takes you a long time to walk up to the mountain, you realise that the mountain is not for you and it’s not really where you wanted to go to for your hiking trip. You had a plan where you really wanted to go to. Always important to make a plan for your goals, what are you going to do and what are you going to accomplish.
You went on your phone in the blue mountain, you went on Instagram and saw your friends post on Instagram of a beautiful beach after the long hiking trip. They went on a hiking trip completely different from where you went to. You ask yourself, how are you going to get there. You make a plan for your hiking journey from where you are to where you want to be. It’s going to take you a long time to complete your hiking trip. Going on a hiking trip is like starting your online business. How are you going to be successful and how long it takes? It’s going to take you a while but you got to be patient for yourself.

The habits of successful peopleย

The 6 habits that will make you successful are:

  1. Self-aware
  2. Take action
  3. Invest in yourself
  4. Get a mentor
  5. Listening
  6. The sixth habit is having faith and trusting the process

Habit number 1.

  • Self-aware: you plan ahead for your journey to get to your goals to be successful. Just like going on a hiking trip, do you want to go to the blue mountain or the beach? It’s being aware of how are you going to achieve your goals. knowing where you’re going, which path is the right way to success and set up your goals.

Habit number 2.

  • Take action: is to start your own business to make money. Do you want to have a million pounds in your bank? It requires actions so you got to be proactive. If you want to start a big business, you got to start a small business and work your way up to start a big business. It’s important to take action and start your own business now rather than waiting for the best time to start. If you don’t take any actions now, you’re going to be stuck in the same situation by working in the 9-5 job and achieving somebody’s goals. You can’t think about success.

Habit number 3.

  • Invest in yourself: you watch some YouTube videos of how to be successful, how to make money online and how to get financial freedom. You read books about money, how do the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. You spend a lot of time on your own learning how to be an entrepreneur. You can hire a coach to guide you towards your goals.

Habit number 4.

  • Get a mentor: it’s good to get a mentor to guide you and help you to achieve your goals. It’s like going to the gym, you can get a personal trainer to guide you to achieve your fitness goals. If you hire a mentor to coach you, you will have to spend money on their services because of the time they spend with you for coaching you to succeed.

Habit number 5.

  • Listening: you should listen to successful entrepreneurs like Dan Lok for example and many others. Dan Lok is my favourite mentor to listen to, he really motivates you to start your business but you got to take his advice, don’t just listen to what he said, you got to do it. You can listen to other entrepreneurs how they went from being broke, working in the 9-5 job, living paycheck to paycheck to becoming a millionaire. Listen to them about how they start their online business so you can get inspired by them to become an entrepreneur.

Habit number 6.

  • The sixth habit is having faith and trusting the process: a lot of people when they first started their online business, they gave up too early because they think the process is not working for them and they’re impatient to themselves. An online business takes time and effort, you will need to be patient and you got to develop a skill to achieve your goals. Entrepreneurship is not getting rich fast scheme, it requires hard work and effort. You got to understand how entrepreneurship works and how to make money online.

These are the 6 habits that will make you successful if you follow the guides.

The process works for everyone if you follow it you will succeed.

Believe in yourself

If you believe in yourself that you can do it, you can be successful and you can make money while you sleep rather than selling your time for money and working like a slave and achieving your bosses goals. Can your boss make money while they sleep? Ask your boss “can you make money while you sleep” and see what your boss say, does he or she get paid while they sleep?
If other people are successful entrepreneurs and they can do it, you can do it and I believe anyone can be successful. If you want to be successful, I believe in you and you can do it. Everyone’s got the potential to be successful it’s just having the right mindset and habits. If you want to be successful, you got to work very hard, keep learning and don’t stop because that’s how you fail is when you gave up on your progress even if you’re doing well. You got to be patient for yourself if you want to be successful and keep working towards your goals.

  1. I have been studying successful people and trying to learn what I need to do to live my best life. I’m at the stage where I’m going to seek out finding a mentor because I really don’t think I can get where I want to be without some one on one advice. I might have to invest in that, but then that’s me investing in my business. I just have to find a person who i the right one. Hoping to find someone in my own area that I can meet up with and discuss business strategy.

  2. Wow! I love your site. I have a site on the same niche and I’m very interested in the topics you present. If you are interested we could collaborate with each other and mention each other on our sites. Anyways, in regards to this article, I want to say that it is true that habits are a big part of success. In order to be successful you have to adapt the habits of successful people in your life, and we need to focus on the ones which are the most actionable.

  3. Thank you, Gordon, for this very educating and motivating post. I really liked it.

Yes, planning to be successful is much like planning a hiking trip. One must prepare adequately.

The point you made that one needs to know his destination, invest in himself and look to a mentor, are what got to me most. I believe for one to get somewhere great, one must have what it takes inside of him to pull a stunt. After all, someone who wants to be an athletic star must be willing to train, be strong within and look up to someone who’s done a similar great thing. Also, some people who know how to get to the top, hesitate because they’re afraid of daring, and so do not take action. Truly, it takes a lot, but a few, to acquire habits that take one to the top

Thank you again, Gordon. I learnt a lot from this educative article and I’m sharing this with my friends.

  4. Thank you for sharing such an insightful and helpful post. Many of these things take time, a long time, to develop. Self-awareness seems like a never ending quest. Maybe it is, maybe it’s supposed to be like that. Which I suppose comes into “trusting in the process”. I think that’s the hardest thing to do on this list. It takes immense effort to do nothing sometimes and just trust that things will work themselves out.

  5. Hi, Gordon.
Thanks for sharing insight into the very important habits that can make us successful. All the six habits so relevant and necessary to adopt that we must take a minute to stop and think over these points. I liked the last habit so much that I would love to incorporate it into my strategy. Having faith in what we choose to do and the trust in the process we opt to follow is the key to success.

  6. Hello, I really want to first appreciate your effort in putting this great website together and writing this article. I must say I am very surprised to see this 6 habit that will make me successful. I think from your review, Habit 3(investing in myself) is a good habit to success but I always look on YouTube and reading books of starting online business but the problem with me is taking action I think am fearing failure. How can I stop fearing of failure?

  7. I totally agree with all 6 points. Point #2 in particular. There’s a saying “An inch of action is better than a mile of intention”. And all the knowledge in the world is useless unless you take action. I also like #3 – investing in yourself. Constant learning is necessary to reach your goals. I also follow Dan Lok. He walks the talk and I like his no-nonsense style

  8. Personally I believe that the sixth habit is the hardest. Everything else you are pretty much in control of except for the process, and I believe that is why people give up. When you can no longer control the out come you are coasting on faith and no one is focusing on how much work they actually put in before they got to that step and they sell themselves short before the good things happen.

  9. Thank you very much for the nice post. Your post is informative as well as educative.

Many people wonder how they can become highly successful, not realizing that they hold within them everything they need to achieve all of the success they desire.
Successful people are where they are today because of their habits.  Habits determine 95% of a person’s behavior.
Everything that you are today, and everything that you will ever accomplish, is determined by the quality of the habits that you form. By creating good habits and adopting a positive behavior, you too can become successful and live a prosperous life.

    thank you so much.!

  11. A plan, like a dashboard, helps you to have all your gauges; measure of your capacity, and their levels/readings; what you have within you to achieve them, all in one place. Thanks for not delving into the successful habits straightaway but setting the pace with an analogy. I particularly like the listening and patience habits. It’s only wise to learn from those who’ve explored the road before us and after we’ve listened, to be patient enough to persevere when obstacles appear. Great piece Gordon.

  12. getting a mentor is one tricky habit and the ability to choose a right mentor is relevant. some mentors can timpact and it might led to set backs. having faith in the process is a must and i believe with it, there was no need engaging the process in the first place. thank you for this tips

  13. To me habit #1 is the key. Developing self awareness is a life long journey and when I study successfull people, it is very obvious that they have mastered or atleast ahead of the pack when it comes to being self aware. Most of us fall prey to unconcious, non productive, habitual behaviour day in and day out and it is only through developing self awareness that all the other habits will get easier and become effortless eventually. Thanks for the thought provoking article – great read.

  15. Habit number 1 is perhaps the most important one? Plan ahead, which equals to writing down your goals, doesn’t it? I write down my daily goals for the week, every week on Sunday. Then, every day, I do everything on my list, checkmarking each accomplished goal.

I also liked your quote “you can’t think about usccess”. You must take action, although it is perfectly to think of of what you want to achieved and where you see yourself in a certain amount of time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have done point nr. 3 for several years now, working on myself, investing in myself, and it truly brings results. I have read self helps books by the same author, a wellness coach (I like her work), and they have helped me a lot. I still need to get some books like you suggested, but I currently also read a lot of success stories on people’s blogs, and they always motivate me too.

I am sometimes a little impatient, and lately I have been a little down, because it is taking me a little longer than I thought, but one thing that is sure with me is that I do not give up. Feeling down is just temporary, I’m already back to feeling better and more positive about things. I have faith, and thank you for reminding me of that in your last point. ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Honestly the six habits are very key, but two I have always used and the have worked wonders – Get a mentor and Listening. If you want to succeed in any venture or endeavor, get a mentor. The saying that says those who have fathers go further is no lie at all, also I have cultivated the habit of listening, like you said, listen to them so that you can get inspired. Listen to other entrepreneurs

  17. Hello there, thanks for this awesome article it would be of great help to the public as it has been of help to me. Among  this six(6) habits that you have listed the most tricky one among them all if the Choosing a Mentor as it very necessary but must not be rushed as a mentor is as similar as a teacher and you know when you have the wrong teacher; you Fail the exams, that how similar it is to when you have the wrong everything thing becomes hard…….Choose wisely.

  18. Having a clear vision of what your goal is and how you want to achieve it is really important. A lot of people (me included) get lost in the “what if’s” and doubts of starting a business. As humans created to achieve what we want, we sometimes forget that it is not going to be easy and it will take time. We expect too much sometimes without putting the necessary effort into what we want to do. Thank you for this eye-opening reminder!

  19. I think the two most important habits are definitely taking action and finding a mentor. Many people often don’t take action and wonder why they don’t have success. Also finding a mentor can be a vital part and make it a quicker journey to success. All of these are great habits to have so thanks for the reminder here on your article.

  20. Gordon, i have to agree with you that these 6 habits can make you successful.  I especially love habit number 2 which is taking action.  Why do i like this one so much.  It is because i know that success does not fall into anyone’s lap.  One has to take action that is in line with what one hopes to achieve to bring that success into our reality.

“The path to success is to take massive, determined actions.” ―Tony Robbins

Those words from motivational speaker Tony Robbins just about sums it up.

Thanks again Gordon.  I enjoyed that post

  21. I agree with what you said. If you know other’s are being successful at something then it means there was a way they did it. And if you want to be successful as well, you better work hard and do what they did.

The most important point is self-awareness in my opinion. Your goal will be what motivates you and what determines how much you should put in. If you only want a bit, then you can get away with doing a bit every day, If your goal is to become rich though, then either you’ll have to give it your all or go home, because if you’re not all-in you’re just wasting your time.

I loved your blog and takes on an entrepreneurs habit. It’s very difficult to continue tho and there is no road map to success and that’s an adventure for an entrepreneur.

Thabks again I have real value and motivation from your blog.

  24. I love #3 –  investing in myself through personal development has always been high on my list. I listen to podcasts instead of music. I read books instead of watch TV. And I spend money on quality training from experts, just like I did in college.

I will admit having a bit of “shiny object syndrome” though. So remembering to take action on ONE thing at a time and see it through is something I have to consciously work on.

  25. This is absolutely true! I believe the first habit is probably the most important, self awareness. What may be considered success for one person may not be considered success for myself, and visa versa. The other habits are very true as well, but if you are working towards somebody else’s goals then it will be tough to reach those goals. It took me a long time to realize this, and my life has been much more enjoyable since I quit chasing others goals!

  26. Hello Gordon! I totally agree with these habits you’ve shared as it sure to give a positive results if practiced. My favorite of them is no.3 ‘Invest in yourself’. Without working on ourselves and improving ourselves every day, it would be unrealistic for us to expect a much different future from the one we have right now.

Thanks for sharing this, it’s helpful!

  27. Although everyone of the six habits are necessary, I think that mentoring and asking for help is probably one that many people tend to not really follow properly or put enough emphasis on.  It is not just about buying some videos and listening to some inspirational tapes.  Join a mastermind of like individuals, surround yourself with people who are successful and will be uplifting for you.  The cliche of surrounding yourself with 5 people you want to be like is a cliche for a reason, it works!  We can all learn from each other and generally people love to help.  Love the topic and you advice, thank you for this information!

  28. Great Article, although I have to admit the first part that struck me – is why are you taking a mobile phone charger with you on a hiking trip to the top of a mountain where there is likely to be no signal?

    Bear with me, it’s relevant!

My thought track immediately took me back to the days before phone charges and even longer before that. What about the great entrepreneurs, inventors, engineers and businessman of times such as the industrial revolution? What did they do to achieve their success?

The answer of course is your 6 habits. They were self-aware they took action, they invested in themselves, they used mentors, they listened to the people around them and most of all they had faith and trust in themselves to achieve their goals.

In short you are teaching that something that has been around for centuries but it is still as valid today as it was then and it still needs teaching.

  30. This has been a very useful read. I enjoyed mentally reviewing myself, checking in which areas I’ve been failing.

I think the point in which I need to do more adjustments is investing in myself. I kinda neglect this and view it as wasting money, but it’s the opposite, it really is an investment!

  34. Your post definitely resonates with me especially step 2 and 6.

Step 2 because it is important to take action and step 6 because we need to trust the process.

I’ll tell you a little story: In December 2011, I started blogging and I believed that online business and blogging could give me the financial freedom I needed along with looking after my children. I was consistent for 3 months, I had traffic, friends and all. Then, I gave up!

I went back to my 9 to 5 job. In my 9 to 5 job, I have not been given a pay rise in 5 years! It is difficult to not think about what could have happened if I had trusted the process and taken every action to ensure I succeed.

I have started my online business again, this time with more determination to trust the process.
    Thanks for sharing.

  35. I like the habits you have highlighted here. I think the ones I have struggled with most over the years are getting a mentor and having faith and trusting the process. I’m not really in a position to hire a mentor, but I also feel like it has been something I’ve been sorely lacking over the years. As far as having faith and trusting the process, I have often become frustrated when things don’t pan out right away. That is something that I definitely need to work on. Thanks for the encouragement to keep pressing on!

  36. Certainly a problem identified is already half solved and this addresses the first habit on this article to be aware of your desired destination. Putting your plan down in writing also has a magical effect on your personality as you read the plan often, naturally the intuitive ideas necessary to carefully execute the plan successfully will begin to flow.

With the inspiration comes the zeal to strive to achieve your desires, which is the action phase.

Genuinely Inspired actions produce more amazing results in record time with higher precision.

The role of MENTORS can never be overemphasised as they serve as guides, pointing the sure way to success ahead of us.

Then constant personal development and training with measurable growth.

Consistency and persevere on the right path seals the journey as the way may have storms, but with focus on the finish line, we are Unstoppable.

Thanks for gifting us this precise article for success.

More success to your goals too. Shalom

  37. The analogy you started with is very captivating and gets the reader hooked. Thanks Gordon. It is always important to take action; this is what distinguishes the wishful thinker from the eventual achiever. Faith too is an important ingredient. Without it we are nothing but a bunch of people stumbling along without the slightest inclination to know what tomorrow holds.

    We are Blessed.

I agree with the 6 habits that make you successful in order to achieve those goals and your post will certainly help people achieve what they want to achieve.

Apart from mindset do you think it important to have a desire and motitavtion to succeed as well as the 6 habits?

  43. Hi Gordon,

I have just been sorting through some of your articles, and I had to tell you that I really love this one in particular.  It seems that successful people think very differently than most people.  We definitely get programmed at a very young age to go to college, pile up student loans, and then get a job.

The only people I know of that are sort of successful after following that path are career professionals like doctors and such.  The vast majority just end up with a big loan to pay off, and a job that pays them just enough to survive.

The hard part is going against all of that conditioning, and seeing things like an entrepreneur.  It’s a big change.  But if you have the right mindset, and pair it with the right kind of behavior, you should see success.

At least that’s what I got out of it.  Thanks for laying these concepts out on the table.  It’s very helpful.
